Hair Loss And Vitamin D - Do They Really Go Together?



Hair loss and vitamin D are not usually thought of together. Vitamin D is most commonly associated with sunlight. It is manufactured in the body when you are exposed to direct sunlight and this ultraviolet rays. Vitamin D is found in in milk, liver, fatty fish, egg yolks, and cod liver oil. It is responsible for the absorption of calcium. Vitamin D acts more like a hormone than a vitamin and is absolutely necessary for maintaining a healthy body. Those who have a Vitamin D deficiency may experience several health problems, including hair loss. So, hair loss and vitamin D intake work together to ensure a healthy head of hair for everyone.

Vitamin D exists in several forms, the most active of those forms is calciferol. The other forms are virtually inactive in the body. Most people do get enough Vitamin D naturally just by being exposed to UV rays. Others, especially those who live in areas of the world where sunlight is not prominent, may need a Vitamin D supplement to ensure they are receiving their necessary daily dosage.
